With Folder Shield, you can hide entire directories and thus prevent access by anyone else to your personal files and documents.

Folder Shield can be used to conceal any directories under Windows95/98/ ME/NT/2000/XP, completely and securely. Your personal documents, private photographs etc. are invisible, and hence no longer accessible, as soon as the relevant folders have been hidden with Folder Shield.

Genuine concealment - not to be mistaken with the "Hidden" file attribute
The distinction between this software and the " Hidden" Windows file attribute is quickly explained: with Folder Shield your data really is concealed, and this protection cannot be cancelled either, without entry of a password. Moreover, data concealed with Folder Shield is also invisible in other file manager utilities and other applications. Folder Shield simply makes your data invisible to the entire system. Even in MS DOS dialog boxes the data remains invisible. Folder Shield also provides protection against unknown viruses!
As Folder Shield makes the selected directories invisible to the entire system, Trojan horses and either known or unknown computer viruses cannot access your data or even delete it. Faster than encryption programs
Even the fastest encryption programs require a comparatively long time to encrypt large quantities of data. As Folder Shield operates on a driver basis and does not modify or encrypt the data, even huge quantities of data can be concealed quick as a flash with Folder Shield. With the appropriate configuration settings, a hot key (combination of keys) is sufficient to make the selected data disappear.
Please note, however, that despite the speed penalty, it is essential that any data that is highly sensitive should still be encrypted.
